Famous Artists Portraits This body of work began as an artistic exercise only. It soon became something much more. The art or visual image was only a small part of what I would discover about these artists. The initial attraction was the image, and why not? This is obvious. What’s not so obvious is what’s happening in the artist’s mind or psyche. I wanted to explore these hidden messages. They only seemed to reveal themselves during the painting process. The more I painted, the more communication there seemed to be. I’m not exactly sure what transpired, but these paintings are the end result of that dialogue.
